iPhone has started with e-sim in its iPhone 14 series only in US

With the eSIM, switching the network provider, data, or any service package via websites is simple. Changing the mobile network requires going to the store and purchasing an actual SIM card.

Apple is a global leader in technology. Moreover, Apple unveiled the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 pro max on September 7. Hence it is during its “Far out” event in Apple Park.

During the event, the Cupertino company reiterated its aim to do away with physical SIM cards. The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus sold in US markets will solely support eSIM and will not have them.

eSIM is a digitally integrated, programmable, and rewritable SIM. It can use your network carrier’s cellular plan without an actual nano-SIM.

What advantages come with utilizing an eSIM?

With the eSIM, switching the network provider, data, or any service package via websites is simple. Getting a physical SIM card to change the cell network requires going to the store. Also, doorstep delivery is possible in rare circumstances.

Hence eSim supports multiple SIM cards. Apple permits up to eight eSIMs on an iPhone installation. But you can utilize only two phone numbers at once. Because smartphones currently only have two sim card slots, you can only subscribe to two network carriers simultaneously.

What is the prerequisite for using an eSIM?

Since the release of the iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR, as well as iPads and Apple Watches with cellular capabilities. Apple has supported eSIMs with physical SIMs. In India, iPhone 14 series handsets will include both a SIM tray and an eSIM slot. These gadgets require iOS 12.1 or newer as the operating system.

How to set up eSIM?

Apple recommends the following procedure for installing an eSIM on iPhone devices. When the message “Carrier Cellular Plan Ready to Be Installed” shows, touch it. The Settings app may access Carrier Cellular Plan Ready to Be Installed.

Then click Continue when you reach the bottom of the screen. To check your iPhone’s cellular connectivity: Dial a number. Remove your physical SIM card if the plan you activated replaces the one on it. Restart your iPhone after that.

A mobile network subscription that supports eSIM must also be there to run an eSIM on the qualifying devices. JIO provides its consumers with the eSIM option in India.
