Teddy Ray Dies: Rising Comic On HBO Max’s ‘Pause With Sam Jay’ Was 32

Teddy Ray, a comedian, passed away. He was 32.

Along with doing stand-up, Ray contributed as a writer and actor to the comedy series How to Be Broke, where he appeared in six episodes between 2017 and 2018. He also made an appearance in episodes of the HBO Max series Pause with Sam Jay from 2021 and the improv comedy courtroom show Cancel Court.

Quinta Brunson, the designer of Abbott Elementary, spearheaded the outpouring of condolences to Ray on social media by leaving a note on Ray’s final Instagram post. “Heartbroken. I’ll miss you, Teddy.

Ray was dubbed “amazing” by stand-up comedian and Emmy winner Katt Williams, and Issa Rae posted a photo of a white heart emoji over a picture of Ray grinning on her Instagram Stories.

Ray, who works with the brand, was also honored by Rae’s media outlet, Hooray.
