On 5th May, House of the Dragon official Instagram page gave us a glance of the characters of the upcoming show. The show is to act as the prequel to the famous Game of Thrones and is also based on the books written by George R. R. Martin.
It is set around 200 or 300years before the happenings of the previous HBO show. After the controversial finale of show Game of Thrones, fans are looking forward to follow another show based on the same universe.
House of the Dragon
The 3 photos reveal the main few characters of the series. The photos show them in their costume and the captions also reveal the character names. One photo reveals Emma D’Arcy and Matt Smith in the costume and character of Rhaenyra and Daemon Targaryen. They play the key roles of the Targaryen Princess and Prince.
Another photo titled ‘The Sea Snake‘ shows Steve Touissant playing the many title holder Lord Corlys Velaryon of an old lineage.
The last photo reveals the characters Alicent Hightower and Otto Hightower. Olivia Cooke would appear for the role of daughter of Rhys Ifans’s character who is the Hand of the King.
The remaining cast includes Sonoya Mizuno as Mysaria,Paddy Considine as the King Viserys, Fabien Frankel as Ser Criston Cole and Eve Best as Princess Rhaenys.
About the show:
The show is to be adaptation of the book ‘Fire & Blood‘ which follows the Targaryens. The show’s plot would have the same and show history and wars, between Targaryens for the succession, which is known as Dance of the Dragons. This HBO series will have a total of 10 episodes.
George Martin also signed a deal with HBO for 5 years. The show is developed by Miguel Sapochnik, who directed some of the famous episode of Game of thrones and will direct some for the new show. It is created by Ryan Condal who is also the co developer and George R. R. Martin. The shooting began in April 2021. House of the Dragon is only one of the few planned in the same world of Seven Kingdoms.
The show is to air Season 1 in 2022.
