8-Bit Christmas is scheduled to be released on November 24, 2021, on HBO Max. Neil Patrick Harris, Winslow Fegley are among the cast members.
8-Bit Christmas is an upcoming American holiday comedy film based on Kevin Jakubowski’s novel of the same name and directed by Michael Dowse. Neil Patrick Harris, Winslow Fegley, June Diane Raphael, David Cross, and Steve Zahn are among the cast members.
Plot
“8-Bit Christmas,” based on a 2013 novel by Kevin Jakubowski, is set mostly in the late 1980s and depicts the narrative of a young kid named Jake who longs for a Nintendo Entertainment System and goes to crazy measures to obtain one.

Jake can’t rely on Santa or his parents to get him the NES, according to the book’s official synopsis, which states that the action begins “when a hyperactive Shih Tzu is accidentally crushed to death by a forty-two-inch television set and every parent in town blames Nintendo.
“The result is a Super Mario Bros.-style Christmas journey, complete with blazing wreaths, misplaced retainers, speeding minivans, hot teachers, false Santas, snooty sisters, ‘Super Bowl Shuffles,’ and one very nude Cabbage Patch Kid”.
8-Bit Christmas Release Date and Where You Can Watch It
“8-Bit Christmas” will premiere on HBO Max, Warner Media’s streaming service, on November 24, 2021. “The Witches,” “Superintelligence,” and “Locked Down” didn’t exactly do the service any favors, but “No Sudden Move” and the under-appreciated gem “Unpregnant” turned out to be rather amazing. Let’s hope this film is just as shocking.

Director, Writer, and More
Michael Dowse, who has had an interesting and varied career thus far, directs “8-Bit Christmas.” He directed various episodes of series like “Man Seeking Woman” and “Future Man,” as well as the hockey comedy “Goon,” the romantic comedy “What If,” the action-comedy “Stuber,” and several episodes of “Man Seeking Woman” and “Future Man.” But it’s his directorial credit on 2011’s “Take Me Home Tonight,” another comedy set in the late 1980s, that could be most pertinent for this new role.
The script was written by Kevin Jakubowski based on his novel. The soundtrack was written by Joseph Trapanese (“The Raid 2,” “Prisoners of the Ghostland”). The cinematographer is Samy Inayeh (“The Void,” “Man Seeking Woman”).
Allan Mandelbaum (“King Richard”), Nick Mantell (“Drew”), actor Jonathan Sadowski, Tim White (“Ingrid Goes West”), and Trevor White (“Ingrid Goes West”) are producing the film (“Wind River”).
