Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, popularly known as Blade of Destruction is a Japanese manga series. This series is written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotouge. The anime series is a part of the Japanese adventure, dark fantasy, and action genres. It is published by Shueisha in the Japanese version, while Viz Media publish the English version of this Japanese manga series. It is predominantly published in the weekly Shonen Magazine.

The show originally was aired on television, beginning on 15th February 2016. Presently it contains 23 volumes in the books. The anime is directed by Haruo Sotozaki. It is produced by a series of producers with the lead and initial producer being Hikaru Kondo. He is assisted by three other directors in Akifumi Fujio, Masanori Miyake, and Yuma Takahashi.

The music for the anime television series is produced by Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina jointly. Ufotable Studios provide the shooting space. Madam Entertainment, Anime Limited, Aniplex of America, and Muse Communication jointly run the license.

The Plot

Demon Slayer follows the story of Tanjiro Kamado. A kind-hearted and smart boy who lives atop a mountain with his family. Living a happy life was ceased as an option from Tanjiro, as one fine morning, he returned from work only to find his family slaughtered and killed by a demon. In this fantasy world, demons are former humans who sold their humanity to gain unimaginable powers. However, there also exist curse-breakers in this world, known as demon slayers.

These demon slayers are entirely human and only plan on demolishing the demon population of this world. They do however breathe differently and use different techniques to breathe known as “Breathing Styles”.

These breathing techniques, grant them special powers of salvation that help equip them with special superhuman strengths and more defense. The story becomes a bit more complicated, as Tanjiro’s sister Nezuko Kamado, the sole survivor of the demon onslaught, is transformed into a demon. Surprisingly, Nezuko still manages to get hold of her human emotions and feelings, which allow her to be a semi-human.

The siblings soon meet Giyu Tomioka, a demon slayer, who sends them to Sakonji Urokodaki, another retired demon slayer. From there on, Tanjiro begins his training to find a solution to turn his sister back into a human from her demon form.
