Hajime No Ippo is a Japanese manga written and illustrated by George Morikawa. It’s also adapted as an anime directed by Satoshi Nishimura. This is a really old series which has been running since 1989. It’s published in the Weekly Shonen Magazine.

Movies have also been made based on the series such as Hajime no Ippo: Champion Road, Hajime no Ippo: Mashiba vs. Kimura, Hajime no Ippo: New Challenger, and Hajime no Ippo: Rising.

Makunouchi Ippo has been bullied for as long as he can remember. Ippo has consistently longed to evolve himself, yet never has the energy to follow up on it. He’s continually doing chores and being whipped by his classmates. At some point, amidst one more harassing, Ippo is saved by Takamura Mamoru, who turns out to be a fighter. Ippo blacks out from his wounds and is brought to the Kamogawa boxing center to recover. As he regains consciousness, he is astonished by his new surroundings in the gym, however needs certainty to endeavor anything. Takamura places a photo of Ippo’s bully on a punching bag and urges him to punch it.

At that moment, Ippo feels something stir inside him and in the end requests that Takamura train him in boxing. Believing that Ippo doesn’t have the guts, Takamura assigns him a task considered unthinkable and gives him a week time limit. With an unexpected longing to get stronger, for both himself and his mother, Ippo prepares tenaciously to achieve the task by a week. In this way, Ippo’s excursion to the highest point of the boxing scene starts.
