About Kaiju No. 8
Kaiju is a Japanese word that means “strange monster.” When strange Grotesque, Godzilla-like monsters attack civilians in Japan, the Defense Force is formed to combat monsters. Kafka Hibino is the protagonist of the manga series. When Kafka was very young, his town was destroyed by Kaiju. Ever since then, he and his friend Mina Ashiro are determined to join the Defence Force.
Mina has become a successful commander of the Defence Force. Kafka has failed the entrance exam several times and ends up being a sweeper under Monster Sweeper Inc. His job is to dispose of the dead bodies of monsters. One day a small Kaiju enters into Kafka’s mouth. It transforms him into a humanoid monster.
Kafka gains superhuman powers but he is afraid of losing control and becoming a threat to his friends. He is one of the most powerful humanoid monsters. He could easily overpower other monsters. Kafka gets an opportunity to join the Defense Force under the code name Kaiju No. 8.
