About One Piece
One Piece is a Japanese adventure manga series written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda. It has been serialized in Shueisha’s shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump since July 1997. The anime television series One Piece premiered in Japan on Fuji Television on October 20, 1999.
As of July 2021, the manga had over 490 million copies in circulation in 58 countries and regions worldwide, making it the best-selling manga series in history. It is also one of the highest-grossing media franchises of all time. The series became a multimedia franchise, with several movies, and an animated series produced by Toei Animation.
The story is about the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy, a young boy whose body has gained elasticity after eating a devil fruit. The boy along with his crew of pirates acquires a ship and explores the Grand Line in search of the world’s ultimate treasure known as “One Piece” to become the next King of the Pirates. During their journey, they encounter other pirates, bounty hunters, criminal organizations, revolutionaries, and many other friends and foes. It remains to be seen what twists and turns take place as the story progresses.
