Work in Progress is an American comedy television series produced by Showtime. The show first aired on December 8, 2019. It was created by Abby McEnany and Tim Mason, written and executive produced by McEnany, Mason, and Lilly Wachowski, and directed by Mason.
Starring McEnany alongside Karin Anglin, Celeste Pechous, Julia Sweeney (as a fictionalized version of herself), and Theo Germaine. McEnany takes the lead in this series in sort of a semi-autobiographical role. The entire series is based in Chicago as it is written, filmed, and post-produced over there.

About Work in Progress Season 2
Work in Progress primarily airs on Showtime. The streaming platform announced that the 10-episode Season 2 will premiere in August with two episodes airing back-to-back. Season 2 continues with the iconic character Abby played by McEnany’s in the wake of her breakup (and almost out of almonds).
Abby however accepts that she’s too busy to kill herself. In fact, she’s just starting to get her head above water and tries to look on the brighter side, when a global pandemic converges with a family emergency and forces her into ‘the nowhere land’.
With Celeste Pechous, Armand Fields, Karin Anglin, Bruce Jarchow, Theo Germaine, and Julia Sweeney on board this season again; everyone is ready for this crazy ride. McEnany has co-created as well as co-written this season along with director Lilly Wachowski.

The plot revolves around Abby, a 45-year-old self-identified “fat, queer (person) whose mishaps and misery somehow lead her to a bright side which brings her a transformative relationship.”
