COVID-19 vaccines for the general public are announced to be available from 19th April that is since Monday. Blue Cross Blue Shield in partnership with Lyft and the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers has offered free rides on Bluebike for anyone who is scheduled to get vaccinated.
What is Bluebikes?
Blue bike is a bike-sharing system or a bicycle public transport located in Boston metropolitan area. It is rent a bicycle for an easy and affordable transport app. Founded in April 2011, it is owned by the municipalities of Boston, Cambridge, Everett, Somerville, and Brookline and operated by Motivate. Originally named as ‘Hubway’, it was renamed Bluebikes after the sponsorship deal with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts in 2018.
How to get a free ride on Bluebike:
Download the Bluebikes app on your mobile phone and apply the given discount code ‘BLUEVAX1’ and ‘BLUEVAX2’ which will get you a complimentary ride. These 2 coupon codes can be used for 2 doses of vaccines. With that, you get a ride for traveling to the vaccination center and back. The free ride will include unlimited 2-hour rides for the same day.
People scheduled for vaccination living in these 10 municipalities: Arlington, Boston, Brookline, Cambridge, Chelsea, Everett, Newton, Revere, Somerville, and Watertown. Bike Valets are also to be accessible near the Hynes Convention Centre and the Reggie Lewis Centre for convenience. More expansion on this facility to be done by increasing the number of bikes and docking area the accelerate the process and create the procedure comfortable.
With the Vaccine Centers not being at a convenient distance for everyone, it creates a transport problem. Bluebikes offer of free ride tries to solve this problem.
