Riz Ahmed bags the Best Actor nomination in Oscar

Riz Ahmed AKA Riz MC, the Primetime Emmy Awards winner is now in the Oscar nominations list. Here’s all you need to know about it.

Riz Ahmed– Career and Fame

The 38-year old British-Pakistani actor has started his career with a docudrama named ‘The Road to Guantanamo’. Apart from being an actor, he is also a rapper, musician, and activist.

Riz Ahmed alternatively known as Riz MC started his music career with rap battles in his early college days. He came to fame in music industry after dropping the satirical rap track ‘Post 9/11 Blues’. He launched it under the record label named Battered Records.

Riz has worked in quite a no. of films like Sound of Metal, The Night Of, Venom, Mogul Mowgli, Night Crawler, Four Lions, Dead Set, Britz, and so on.

Riz has won quite a no. of awards like– Primetime Emmy Awards, MTV Music Awards, Gotham Independent Film Awards, BIFA Awards, and others. He has also won Asian Music Awards.

Sound of Metal– Oscar Nominee

Actor-Musician, Riz Ahmed is the first Muslim actor to be nominated for the Academy Awards in the Best Actor Category. He bagged the nomination for his excellent role in ‘Sound of Metal’.

In the film ‘Sound of Metal’, Riz played the role of a metal drummer who with time loses his ability of hearing as he was a heroin addict. It took him quite a lot of time to get hold of the American sign languages and the attitude and skills of playing drums.

“When you hear your own name, it’s a weird feeling, I just quietly gave thanks and felt some gratitude,” said the Oscar nominee, Riz Ahmed.

Riz further added, Everybody on this film was doing it because they wanted to push themselves and go further than they have before. This was all of us trying to see how far could we go.”
