The Amazon founder, Jeff Bezos, and the Emmy Award-winning journalist, Lauren Sanchez, were photographed sailing together in Spain. The couple was seen enjoying the summer in a $500 million superyacht.
Jeff Bezos, 59 and Lauren Sanchez, 53 were seen relaxing on board Jeff’s brand-new superyacht as they made their way around Mallorca along the coast of Spain on Monday afternoon.
Bezos sported a pair of light blue swim shorts and a white jacket. At the same time, Sanchez showed off her fit frame in a blink bikini and a white cover-up. Well, it’s still Spring but the couple is spreading heat!
The luxury 417-foot-long yacht, Koru, is believed to be the largest sailing yacht in the world. According to Boat International, Jeff’s yacht features three towering masts, many decks (including one with a pool), and a supporting 250-foot-long helipad.
It was spotted at sea for the first time in March, after leaving the port of Rotterdam, Netherlands, in February. The construction started in 2018 and it took five years to complete. The super yacht got completed in March 2023. It left from the Netherlands to Gibraltar on April, 6, arriving in Mallorca, on April 12.
Reportedly, Bezos first started eyeing the vessel in May 2021. At that time, it was known as Project 271. Before this, the yacht made controversial headlines when it was reported to temporarily dismantle the historic Koningshaven Bridge. This was planned in order to accommodate the yacht. However, following the uproar on social media and elsewhere, city officials reversed their decision.
Well, Bezos and Lauren have been dating since 2019 and this is their latest outing together. Earlier this month, the pair were seen together at the F1 Miami Grand Prix. Other than that, they also attended Coachella together last month. At the music festival, they were seen affectionate with each other. They enjoyed and danced together during Bad Bunny‘s show.
While the ship, complete with a helipad and a pool, accommodates 18 guests. But the prominent couple decided to take it out for a trip on their own before inviting some of their A-listed friends on board.
Reportedly, Jeff Bezos will have to shell out about $25 million a year to run the ship. Well, it will not bother him much as Jeff’s net worth is recently valued at $114 billion. Other than his superyacht, Jeff owns a fleet of private planes, helicopters, and real estate properties.
In 2020, Jeff dropped $165 million for a 10-acre property in Beverly Hills, where he plans to build a 29,000-square-foot megamansion. However, the construction of the property seems to take a halt after Jeff faced a massive drop in Amazon’s stock price.
However, the couple seems to be happy with each other and much in love. Prior to a relationship with Lauren, Jeff was married to MacKenzie Scott, whom he divorced after 25 years of marriage in April 2019. Jeff and Scott had four children together. Similarly, Lauren got divorced from her ex-husband, Patrick Whitesell in 2019 after 13 years of marriage.
In January of this year, Sanchez spoke to The Wall Street Journal for the first time about her relationship with the billionaire. ”Jeff is very funny. He makes me laugh all the time,” she said.”That laugh makes me laugh. When I first heard his laugh from him, I was like, Wow! What’s that?’ Now I love it,” she admitted.
