Spotify may launch a new Hi-Res Audio Platinum Plan

Although not much has been said about Spotify HiFi since the announcement was first made in February 2021, it now appears. Thus the launch of a better-quality tier called Platinum is soon to come. Someone who had terminated their Spotify subscription contacted nine to5 Mac to report. 

The email urged him to resubscribe and suggested a Spotify Platinum plan for $19.99 per month (twice the standard price). Also, it mentions the Spotify HiFi feature in that Platinum plan.

The email mentions high-resolution audio. Also, it is along with features like Studio Sound, Headphone Tuner, Audio Insights, Library Pro, Playlist Pro, and Limited-ad Spotify podcasts.

When Do We Expect HiFi in the Market?

The email also states that the membership tiers will be available in the next 30 days. Hence it indicates that Spotify HiFi will likely launch in a month. Moreover, this launch will be with the addition of this new Platinum label.

The standard $9.99/£9.99/AU$11.99 Apple Music subscription already includes lossless audio and the Spatial Audio functionality. Given this, it’s conceivable that Spotify’s upper management believes they must provide more to defend against a price increase. 

We won’t have to wait long to find out if the information in the resubscribe email is accurate. Of course, it will be available as soon as Spotify makes an official announcement.

Will the pricing be reasonable?

The lossless, CD-quality audio that  HiFi promised would put it on par with services like Apple Music and Tidal. It’s unclear how much additional audio fidelity the ordinary Spotify customer will value.

If the cost ends up being that way, it won’t be easy to convince people to spend twice as much each month. But including some more features will make the offer more enticing. 

It is unclear precisely what Library Pro, Playlist Pro, and the other features are. But they undoubtedly allude to added capabilities of some sort.

As it tries to draw in more monthly subscribers, we have witnessed Spotify increasing its reach. Hence the spread was into podcasts and audiobooks in recent years. Thus it would significantly improve the streaming service’s finances if existing or new members were to double the standard monthly fee.

When exactly  HiFi was supposed to start has been a mystery even to Spotify. But it appears that the question is about to be resolved. The following query was How many people will pay for it?
