Ricky Martin’s nephew is in charge of allegedly harassing and engaging in incest. Then they filed court documents on September 8 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Martin’s attorneys claim.
Hence he is attempting to obtain an economic benefit. According to the complaint, Dennis Yadiel Sánchez Martin is that person. The singer of Livin’ la Vida Loca is suing for at least $20 million in losses.
History of the Harassment
In July, 21-year-old Sánchez said he and Martin, 50, had a seven-month-long sexual relationship. Also, this relationship ended with harassment and psychological abuse from Martin.
Complaint Under Law 54
Sánchez filed a complaint under Law 54 of Puerto Rico. Also, it is a Domestic Abuse Prevention and Intervention Act. First, he kept his identity secret. The police attempted to serve Martin with a restraining order.
It is that a judge had issued, but they were unable to find him. Later, a source discovered that Martin’s nephew was the one who had filed the complaint.
Statement by Martin Lawyer
Martin’s lawyer, Marty Singer, responds to the claims by saying in a statement. Marty said, “Naturally, Ricky Martin has never had, and would never have, a sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew. In addition to being untrue, the idea is offensive. We all want to see this man get the help he needs right away.”
Days later, Sánchez withdrew the accusations during a court hearing, concluding the matter through his attorneys. Martin releases a statement. He claimed that “the petition was the work of a troubled individual making bogus charges with absolutely nothing to support them.”
Details About Civil Lawsuit
In a civil lawsuit, Martin’s attorneys said that Sánchez publicly boast about being his nephew. Furthermore, he was receiving messages on WhatsApp and Instagram.
Before making accusations against him, the lawsuit claims that when Sánchez did accuse Martin. He did it maliciously, without any proof, with grave disrespect for the truth and knowing it was untrue.
Damage to Martin’s Reputation
The acts of Sánchez, in the opinion of Martin’s lawyers, damage their client’s reputation. Moreover, it made him and his family feel uncomfortable in Puerto Rico. According to Martin’s request for a court order, Sánchez should immediately stop communicating With the plaintiff and his family.
Also, Martin is requesting payment for the damages above, interest, costs, and legal fees. Martin’s representative declined to comment further on the lawsuit.
