Beverly Hills director actress dies at 64

Denise Dowse, an actress and director whose long and successful career included parts in “Beverly Hills, 90210,” “Insecure,” and “Ray,” has passed away. Her family confirmed to CNN on Sunday. Dowse was also a director. Her age was 64.

Her sister issued a statement

Tracey Dowse the actress’ sister, issued a statement in which she confirmed her sister’s loss with the words. She stated, “with a heavy heart I have to announce her passing.”

She also shared the news of her sister’s passing on the actress’s Instagram account. Tracy remembered her as a supporter of African American theatre and committed to passing on her passion for the performing arts to younger generations. Dowse worked as an actor and director for the Negro Ensemble Company. In addition, she directed plays for the Amazing Grace Conservatory. A program that trains young actors from the city’s inner neighborhoods.

According to what Tracey Dowse said to CNN, “I feel very pleased to have been her sister.” “She was a star on both the stage and the cinema. And also had the ability to celebrate life and revel in its pleasures. Something that all of us can get knowledge from.”

Her popularity was widespread

Dowse gained widespread recognition for her performance as Mrs. Yvonne Teasley on the critically acclaimed television series “Beverly Hills, 90210.” More recently, she appeared in the HBO comedy series “Insecure”. In this, she was seen as the therapist for the character Molly Carter, played by Yvonne Orji. Dowse has acted in scores of movies and TV programs and directed also directed films. Flims such as “Remember Me: The Mahalia Jackson Story,” had their world premiere at the Pan African Film Festival in April.

Denise’s Manager’s reaction after her demise

In a statement released on Sunday, Dowse’s manager, Sandra Siegal from Siegal Company, reflected on her relationship with her client and friend.

Denise was a brilliantly talented, beautiful, elegant, eloquent, and loving woman. For over 25 years, I had the joy and blessing of managing and collaborating on her career and having a personal friendship with her. The manager was heartbroken at the loss of  Denise, who had all those things. She is clueless about what to do, but having known her has taught her a great deal. Because Denise has had such a profound impact on the lives of so many people, her legacy and memory will endure for all time, “Siegal stated.

During her career, which spanned multiple decades, Dowse participated in several television shows, some of which include “Charmed,” “Girlfriends,” “The West Wing,” and “Law & Order.”
