WhatsApp is working on a ‘login approval’ feature to keep the hackers at bay

To boost the Safety measures, Meta Platform Inc’s WhatsApp is working to introduce a new feature of ‘login approval.’ This new feature will also help prevent WhatsApp accounts from being stolen.

According to the reports, this feature will notify users if an unknown device tries to log into their account, just like for Gmail, Facebook, and Instagram.

WhatsApp is working on a ‘login approval’ feature

The report reveals that this login approval feature will roll out for Android and iOS users. The feature will send in-app alerts to the user if they try to log in to their account on the platform. Thus, the feature will provide an additional layer of security on the instant messaging platform and help accounts from being stolen.

How will the login feature work on WhatsApp?

Whenever a new user, or if the original user of the account will try to log in from an unknown device, the login feature will send the primary device a notification. The user, in the notification alert, then will be asked to either allow or deny the login attempt. The user will also be notified about the time of login attempt and the device used for login.

The alert will show the timing the attempt is made and to which device (model). Users will be given choices to “allow” or “Do not allow”. This login will be possible if the user approves this request.

When will WhatsApp rollout this feature?

WhatsApp is currently working on this feature and it has not been disclosed yet when it will go live for all users. This feature will arrive for the iOS user first.

On a related note, WhatsApp is also working to give more control to the group admins so that they can exercise their power well and stop misinformation from spreading. For this, the group admin should be more alert and aware of what is going on in the group.

In addition to this, WhatsApp is also testing a new feature that will allow users to see the past participants of a group. The company had been testing this new feature with iOS. Now, this new feature is being shipped to Android beta testers of WhatsApp.
