However, Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen has warned that China’s aggression will not be tolerated. All these developments brought the Taiwan issue back to the forefront. What is The Cause of The China-Taiwan Conflict?
Taiwan’s name first appeared in international politics after the Sino-Japanese War (1894). Japan defeated the Qing Dynasty of China in this war. Occupied Taiwan. However, Japan lost World War II. This led to the return of Taiwan to the Chinese, led by Chiang Kai-shek, who had sided with the Allies during the war.
In 1949, Chiang Kai faced a civil war in China. They were defeated by the Communists led by Mao Zedong. The Chiang people then fled to Taiwan, where they continued to rule. Mao then wanted to invade Taiwan. It was in this order that the war with Korea had to take place in 1950.
Mao withdrew his attack on Taiwan in the wake of this. However, the United States, which is looking to seduce China in East Asia, has intervened in Taiwan’s internal affairs. Taiwan was guaranteed to have support from US in all respects. From there, Taiwan became friends with the United States, and the two began to feud with China.
Why China’s Focus on Taiwan?
