Pokémon Journeys Volume 2
While the Pokemon Journeys anime is not exclusively based on the Galar region introduced in Pokemon Sword and Pokémon Shield, it does feature the Galar region and some of its characters.
In fact, Ash is set to soon face off against the fighting-type gym leader Bea in an upcoming episode in Japan.
The page for the anime on Netflix has added a note stating that Part 2 is coming on September 11, which is a Friday. Episodes 13-24 will be released, which will put the US less than 12 episodes behind the original Japanese version.
Interestingly though, Episode 24 was released on June 14 in Japan, almost exactly when the first 12 episodes were released in the US.
This 12 episode release cadence seems like it will keep the US more consistently up to speed than the Pokemon anime has been in the past, which has at times fallen much further behind.
Pokémon Journeys is technically the 23rd iteration of main Pokémon animated series.
Each season of the anime focuses on a different competitive league or region as Ash and his friends try to learn all they can about the incredible creatures around them.
But what sets Journeys apart is its reach.
The latest season follows Ash and his new traveling companion Goh, a 10-year-old boy whose goal is to one day catch the rarest Pokémon of them all, Mew.
The series follows them as they travel across all eight regions of this world including the previously unseen Galar region from the games Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield.
