After colleague & veteran star Alec Baldwin unintentionally fatally shot a cinematographer on the movie sets of ‘Rust’ in October.
Film star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson vowed to not use real weapons, especially guns in his future projects anymore.
As per Variety magazine, the star revealed that the event caused him to reevaluate the use of guns during the shooting of the movies funded by his production firm, Seven Bucks Productions.
To maintain set security, Dwayne Johnson’s production firm will be using rubber pistols and will incorporate all essential weapon impacts in the post-production phase. He also stated that his firm is unconcerned about the expense. The actor went on to say that he feels it is past time for changes in the film industry.
About the Incident
As per a law enforcement statement released to CNN, a member of the crew was killed and the other was injured when actor Alec Baldwin accidentally shot a prop pistol on the film set of “Rust” in New Mexico two weeks back.
Halyna Hutchins, who was the director of photography, was flown to a medical facility via helicopter. She was declared dead by medical staff at the University of New Mexico Hospital. Joel Souza, the director, was taken by emergency services to Christus St. Vincent’s Regional Medical Center for his treatment.

“I can’t speak for anyone else, but I can tell you without a doubt that any movie that we have moving forward with Seven Bucks Productions — any movie, any television show, or anything we do or produce — we won’t use real guns at all,” Johnson gave this statement on the red carpet, at the special screening of his upcoming Netflix blockbuster movie, “Red Notice” in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

Dwayne Johnson also told how heartbroken he was after hearing that the film fraternity had lost a life on set. An old friend of Baldwin, Dwayne appeared visibly upset about the unfortunate incident while giving this interview to the Variety magazine before the film screening. He also sent his prayers and condolences to the family and loved ones of Halyna Hutchins, the cinematographer who lost her life due to the incident.
