About Hanako Kun
Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun is a Japanese manga series by AidaIro. The series is directed by Masaomi Andō, written by Yasuhiro Nakanishi, and licensed by Funimation. It has been serialized in Square Enix’s Shonen manga magazine Monthly GFantasy since 2014.
It has been collected in fifteen tankobon volumes as of April 2021. The manga is licensed in North America by Yen Press. An anime television series adaptation by Lerche aired from January to March 2020. This series has become a fan-favorite recently.
The series follows the story of Kamome Academy which is famous for its rumors regarding its supernatural occurrences. Nene Yashiro, a first-year high-school student who wishes for a boyfriend, summons the Seventh Wonder, “Hanako-san of the Toilet”. She becomes spiritually bound to Hanako and becomes his assistant, helping him destroy evil supernaturals. Eventually, Yashiro learns about her connection to the spirit world and the dark secrets regarding Hanako and his past. It remains to be seen what twists and turns take place as the story progresses.
