About The Neighborhood
Dave is the friendliest guy in the Midwest. When Dave’s wife Gemma gets a job as a school principal in L.A., they move to Los Angeles with their young son, Grover. Their new neighborhood is different from their small town. Their next-door neighbor Calvin is wary about the newcomers, and he thinks that Johnsons will disrupt their culture. However his wife Tina and their younger son, Marty think that Johnsons could be good neighbors. Their older, unemployed son Malcolm thinks that Dave is someone, who could understand him.
In the beginning, Calvin is opinioned about Dave but over time, he gets familiar with Dave as they learn about each other’s culture. Despite of being a comedy series, it highlights real issues. Dave never noticed the privileges he has as a white man. After getting familiar with his new neighborhood, he understands the racial biases in society.
