Kaguya-sama: Love Is War is a Japanese romantic comedy manga series by Aka Akasaka. Serialization began in Shueisha’s seinen manga magazine Miracle Jump in May 2015 and was transferred to Weekly Young Jump in March 2016. Viz Media licenses the manga in English in North America.
From January to March 2019, A-1 Pictures aired a 12-episode anime television series adaptation in Japan. The second season aired from April to June 2020. A third season has been announced for the series, which received an OVA episode in 2021. Hayato Kawai directed the live-action film, which was released in Japan in September 2019. Aniplex of America is the North American distributor of the anime series.

The story of Kaguya-sama was inspired by The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter and takes place in modern times. The plot concerns the battle of wits between Student Council President Miyuki Shirogane and Vice-President Kaguya Shinomiya – both of whom are trying to force the other to confess as a consequence of a loss at the war of love.
Early in the story, most of the plot takes place in the Student Council’s room and involves the shenanigans of the two protagonists, usually foiled by the chaos element, Chika Fujiwara. As the story unfolds, additional members of the Student Council are introduced, as well as several side characters.
