Scenes from a Marriage is an upcoming American drama television miniseries developed, written, and directed by Hagai Levi produced for HBO and starring Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain. It is an English-language remake of the 1973 Swedish miniseries, of the same name by Ingmar Bergman. Jessica Chastain and Oscar Isaac star as Mira, a confident, ambitious tech executive left unfulfilled by her marriage, and Jonathan, an accommodating, hyper-intellectual philosophy professor desperate to keep their relationship intact.

Mira (Chastain) is dissatisfied with her marriage to Jonathan (Isaac). She’s driven, ambitious, and her work as a tech executive constantly sees her pushing for better and innovating. In comparison, Jonathan is more introspective and easygoing. Jonathan will do what it takes to keep their marriage but his tendency to be accommodating isn’t what Mira is looking for. She wants a less passive partner. The two clash over their disparate personalities, desires, and needs causing the rift to grow.
