From 2000 to 2001, MasterChef USA was an American competition culinary show that aired on PBS. Gary Rhodes was the host of the show. The format of the show was inspired by the BBC’s MasterChef, which featured Rhodes as the host in 2001. There were two seasons of the show. The first season aired on April 1, 2000, and consisted of 13 half-hour episodes and a one-hour special.

PBS obtained the rights to screen and West 175 produce an American version of MasterChef due to the success of the British Broadcasting Corporation cooking show MasterChef. When it came to choosing a chef to host the show, executive producer Elizabeth Brock had her heart set on British chef Gary Rhodes.

The contestants continue to cook with Suzette Gresham in the 16th episode. Alejandro and Suu compete in the elimination phase for the final slot in the finale by cooking alongside Gordon Ramsay in the third round, where they will have 15 seconds to plate their meal after Ramsay finishes. Autumn won the second round last year.

During the first nine weeks, twenty-seven chefs from various regions competed in a challenge to create their finest creative two-course dinner for less than $60.00 and to prepare it in less than two and a half hours. Nine candidates will be chosen to go to the next round, where they will compete against a new group of cooks from a different region. Following that, three contestants will be chosen to compete in the finals.
