The Graphic novel, Old Guard was turned into an American superhero film. The director of the film is Gina Prince- Bythewood and the film was adapted from the novel written by Greg Rucka. While the fans were hooked by this movie and were waiting for the sequel. The good news came into the light on January 27, 2021, where Netflix had informed about the sequel.
Old Guard 2 Filming
The director said, “I mean, we always said that it was up to the audience, but you never want to assume because Greg Rucka, who wrote the graphic novel, always envisioned this as a trilogy. So he always knew where the story could go. And it’s very cool where it could go, but you can never assume, you have to focus on the first film. It is incredibly flattering that people want to see more, it means that you did your job, so, you know, we’ll see.”
While the Old Guard has already ended with a plot to start the sequel, so why not. Though the novel’s sequel has already been published in 2019, so now it is time to change it into an action and thrilling movie. Rucka, the writer, had mentioned, “In case of the sequel, break the glass. It’s very straightforward. Do you want another one? Here’s a way to get into it.”
Charlez Theron, starring Andy, has confirmed that the scripts are already done and the camera will start rolling in 2022. So, the release date can’t be confirmed yet. But the countdown has already started and the masterpiece is getting ready.

Cast
Charlize Theron starred as Andy or Andromache of Scythia. She is the oldest immortal and the leader of the squad. Kiki Layne as Nile Freeman, who served in Afghanistan as a U.S. Marine and became an ally of the group. Kiki revealed her thoughts about the character saying, “I love this character, I love this world. I love all of the people that I got to work with. This cast and the whole team were super dope. I think we all just are over here crossing our fingers, praying to everybody and they mama: Watch this movie on Netflix when it comes out.”
Marwan Kenzari as Joe or Yusuf Al-Kaysani and Luca Marinelli as Nicky or Nicolò di Genova. Joe has fought against Crusaders while Nicky has fought with them but eventually they became a couple.
Van Veronica Ngo as Quynh, the former ally of Andy who was left for torturing under the sea, her whereabouts were unknown. But she was found in Booker’s apartment and was also the key for Old Guard 2. Matthias Schoenaerts as Booker or Sebastian Le Livre, who betrayed the group.
Old Guard 2 Plotline
The plot of Old Guard 2 has not been confirmed yet but we can expect that it can be related to the return of Quynh from the water prison. She was captured in an iron maiden and thrown into the ocean for eternity. As an immortal, she couldn’t die but the resentment has definitely filled her upto the brim. She would have thought that she was abandoned in there and nobody has tried to find her. Unexpectedly, she appeared in Booker’s apartment, though he doesn’t recognize her, the way she spoke was not friendly. Nobody knows how she will react after finding out that Andy is no longer an immortal. Would there be any other mystery?
The director, Bythewood said, “I know that Greg Rucka, who wrote the graphic novel in the script, always envisioned this as a trilogy. I know where the story goes, and it’s pretty great. So if the audience is eager for it, there’s definitely more stories to tell.” Hope for the best and may the sequel is as successful as the first film.
