Ruby Rose has played a compelling character as Kate Kane in The CW series “Batwoman Season 3”. This DC universe character is very well known among the Batman and Bat-family fans. She starred as Batwoman for the first season and left before the starting of the second season due to some issues. Let’s look into all the details which tell us that she may be back for the third season.
Ruby Rose Probably Returning: The Beginning
It was first reported back on August 7th, 2018 that Ruby Rose had been cast as Batwoman. The news of Ruby Rose being cast as the lead was met by social media backlash and criticism. DC had reintroduced Batwoman as a lesbian of Jewish descent back in 2006.
The backlash was mainly due to the fact that Rose identified herself as genderfluid and people thought that she was not “gay enough” to play the role. Some part of the backlash was even due to her not being Jewish. Rose deactivated public comments on her Instagram and left Twitter after the incident.
The first season came out on October 6th, 2019, and ran until May 17th, 2020. She was appreciated for her acting and bringing justice to the role of Batwoman. But just before the start of 2nd season Rose announced that she would leave the series.
Why She Left The Series
Rose gave her resignation to the studio in May but the reason for her leaving the show was not told to the public then itself. The studio also started looking for another female lead from the LGBTQ community. Ruby later clarified the reason for her departure in an interview.
She said that it was very tough and taxing for her to be working as a lead for a superhero movie. Ruby had also injured her spine during the shoot which caused a hernia and she had to undergo an operation to correct it. Else not she could also have been paralyzed.
Chances of returning for the third season
Ruby has given us some hints in her recent interview. This is what she said-“I would totally [return to the show]. I don’t think it would serve the story because I think building the new Batwoman is more important than going back too far into Kate Kane, but of course, I would, I would absolutely do anything they wanted as far as that [Laughs].”
