After almost a full decade, Code Geass announced its plans for the future. Recently, it teased that there would be a major announcement for the Code Geass franchise. This announcement has brought much joy to the fans of the series.
Announcement After a Decade
When announced, almost no one had a clue as to what the announcement would hold. The anime community was only guessing about possibilities. There was speculation as to a new movie or some short series. Instead, the presentation gave a massive update on a whole lot of Code Geass goodness.
The studio has planned a 10 Year Project for Code Geass. As a part of the plan, a full-fledged sequel of the series is in work. The new series is named Code Geass: Z of the Recapture. The series continues from the epic end of Code Geass: Lelouch of Rebellion R2.
With series in early stages of its development, not much is known about the storyline. But, its revealed that Code Geass: Z of the Recapture will move forward with the 2019 anime movie Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection’s plot.
Z of the Recapture is slated to be animated by Sunrise. Code Geass veteran Yoshimitsu Ohashi will lead the direction and Takahiro Kimura is roped in to design the characters from the series and films. Meanwhile, writer Noboru Kimura is in the process of writing the story line for the series in work.
Info on the Game
With so much happening, a new smartphone game is also in works. The game has included characters from earlier Code Geass series and manga. The game is expected to be called Code Geass: Genesis Re: CODE.
The new game from the Code Geass franchise is expected to reflect the future for the franchise. It will feature stories from the original series and an exclusive plot for the game. The gameplay is planned to cater to both simulation and role-playing mode.
It should be noted that no time frame is announced for the release of the series. Also, the COVID 19 pandemic is expected to delay the project further. Meanwhile, Code Geass: Genesis Re:CODE is set to arrive on smartphones in Spring 2021.
