CW Reportedly Renewing Katy Keene Season 2, Lucy Hale Reaction on Rumor

The ‘Riverdale’ spin-off that we all had been waiting for is said to be coming back with CW yet again but are these speculations true?

Based on Archie Comic’s character, Katy Keene first premiered on the CW network on 6 February 2020. Though the show was the spin-off of Riverdale, it was unable to touch as many viewer’s hearts as the makers had hoped it would.

What is Katy Keene about?

Katy Keene (Lucy Hale) is an aspiring fashion designer who encounters Josie McCoy (Ashleigh Murray), who has just gotten off the bus to pursue her musical dreams. Their universe is inhabited by starving performers with similar spirits, such as enigmatic socialite Pepper Smith (Julia Chan) and Broadway-bound actor Jorge Lopez–and his drag queen alter ego, Ginger (Jonny Beauchamp).

The story revolves around these four protagonists as they each struggle to thrive in New York City and make their dreams come true. Katy Keene is a spin-off of the show ‘Riverdale’ and is joined by a few actors of the original cast like Josie McCoy and Kevin Keller.

Are the rumors about Katy Keene Season 2’s Renewal True?

Katy Keene Season 1 got pretty low ratings than it should have which is why on July 2, 2020, it was revealed that there won’t be a season 2 for the show. The news broke a lot of hearts including Lucy Hale’s who played the lead role in the show but it had to be done.

CW Reportedly Renewing Katy Keene Season 2, Lucy Hale Reaction on Rumor

The CW tried to talk with other networks including WarnerBros. Television to pick the show up for another season but was declined.

Lucy Hale posted a video of her on July 3, 2020, regarding the cancellation of Katy Keene saying “Long story short, I’m grateful. I am thankful for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. And to Michael Grassi, Roberto [Aguirre-Sacasa], and the rest of the cast, you’re all incredible. I’m just so fortunate, and it’s moments like this that make me know how fortunate I am.”

“I’m so proud of what we made and I do believe it’s timeless. I think that sometimes things just don’t work and maybe it was just not the right time for it.”

We will miss Katy Keen and she will forever hold a space in our hearts.
