An eerie voice-over announces as the premiere date emerges in blinking neon lights: “The DC Universe’s power system is about to change.”
Johnson captioned the photo of Times Square with a Black Adam visual teaser, “A disruptive and irresistible force of a message from the man in black himself.” During Sunday’s NCAA game, a short spot with the release date was also seen.
With Black Adam, Johnson will make his DC debut as a Villain, who is the foe of Shazam (Zachary Levi) in the DC Extended Universe. Johnson said that the role of Black Adam was “unlike any other I’ve ever played in my career” when he first announced the project in 2019.
“I wanted to be like Superman ever since i was a boy. Still, after a few years, I understood that Superman was the type of hero, that I could never be because I was too stubborn. Too boisterous. Too averse to authority and protocol, ” he wrote in an Instagram post.
“Black Adam” was originally going to premier in December of this year, but it was removed from Warner Bros.’ release schedule in October 2020. The film will now be released on the same weekend as Disney’s fifth “Indiana Jones” film.
