What is Safecity all about?

Bumble has launched a safety guide which is a new initiative called Stand for Safety which is in partnership with a public safety platform called Safecity which is owned by Red Dot Foundation to help women in India identify prevent, and fight against the rising cyberbullying and trolling.

With this campaign, bubble hopes that it shows its commitment to having a zero-tolerance policy for hate, aggression, or bullying of any kind on social media. Bumble India shared some statistics from their nationwide survey regarding the safety of women in cyberspace. The stats say that 83 percent of women in India have faced online harassment, out of which one of three of these women had to tolerate it weekly.

The safety guide from the application talks about six kinds of types of digital abuse and harassment which are cyberstalking, doxxing, online impersonation, concern trolling, flaming, outing, or leaking personal videos. The guide gives importance to reporting the incident and registering an official complaint on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, or report to the police.

The app has given a block and reports feature against anyone who shows inappropriate behavior. Another feature that is added t capture, blur, and alert users that they’ve been sent an unwanted nude image giving the user the choice to delete, see or report it.
