Indian Army’s Latest Armored Fleet Includes Mahindra ALSV And Kalyani M4

Mahindra Defence System signed a contract worth Rs 1,056 crore with the ministry of defence An order for 1,300 Armored Light Specialist Vehicles was placed under the deal, which will be used by the Indian Army.

Indian Army’s Latest Armored Fleet

It is expected that these 1300 armored vehicles will be inducted into the Indian Army fleet by the next four years. These vehicles are manufactured and developed by the Indian private company Mahindra Defence. Thus, the decision is made with keeping Make in India initiative under which indigenous manufacturing companies will be given priority, hence increasing capabilities of the private industry.

An order worth Rs. 177.95 crore for Kalyani M4 armored vehicles was also made in the initial month of this year. Many tests were done in the Union Territory of Ladakh that went successful.

Kalyani M4 is developed with the assistance of Paramount Group, a South African defence equipment company. It is a multi-purpose armored vehicle that will be used for moving troops at high altitudes in harsh climate zones.

Features of Mahindra ALSV Defence Vehicle

An armored light specialist vehicle (ALSV) ballistic protection of b7, STANAG degree II. Powered through a three.2-liter multi-gasoline diesel engine, available with a 4 or 6-velocity computerized transmission. The motor is alleged to increase 215hp and 500nm of torque. The pinnacle velocity is more than one hundred and twenty kph and might reach 60 kph in only 12 seconds.

Has a payload ability of 1,000 kgs and can be loaded with an automated grenade launcher or Medium machine Gun. Also, has a Blast Mitigation ground Mats.

Features of Kalyani M4 Armoured Defence Vehicle

Its design offers high speed and quick maneuverability. Has a payload of 2.3 tonnes and may carry up to eight people. Including all the armor, the M4 itself weighs sixteen tonnes. Its 43-degree technique and 44-stages departure perspective with a water wading depth of 900 mm make it perfect for tough terrain or fording rivers.

The M4 has a maximum speed of 140 kph and can cover a distance of 800 km because of its large fuel tank.
