It doesn’t cost anything to love anyone! Jennifer Lopez is well-known for being involved in a variety of high-profile romances, several of which did not end happily ever after. Between her three marriages, the Shades of Blue actress has dated some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, including Ben Affleck.
Jennifer Lopez Dating History
Lopez previously married Ojani Noa from 1997 to 1998, Cris Judd from 2001 to 2003, and Marc Anthony from 2004 to 2014, with whom she shares twins Max and Emme. She was also engaged to Ben Affleck from 2002 to 2004, and in 2019 she married Alex Rodriguez. Lopez and Rodriguez were “working on some things” in March 2021, according to Us Weekly, amid news that they had split and called off their two-year engagement.
Lopez mentioned in January 2021 that reflecting on her previous relationships was a part of her path to getting to know herself. “I recall when I was in counseling at the beginning, you know, in my late 30s, and there was a lot of talk about loving yourself, and I was like, ‘I love myself,’” she told Coach Conversations. “But obviously, in my personal relationships, I was doing all this stuff that didn’t sound like I was enjoying myself, but I didn’t really understand the concept. It took time, and it was and continues to be a journey for me.”

Ojani Noa
In February 1997, the Selena star married the producer, but their union was short-lived; they divorced 11 months later. A permanent injunction prohibiting Noa from “criticising, denigrating, casting in a negative light, or otherwise disparaging” his ex-wife was released by a court-appointed arbitrator in August 2007. In 2016, Noa made an appearance on Millionaire Matchmaker.
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs
Lopez and the hip-hop mogul started dating in 1999 after meeting on the set of a music video, but the couple broke up in 2001. The Maid in Manhattan actress said Diddy was unfaithful during their relationship in a 2003 interview with Vibe magazine.
In 2017, the former rapper waxed poetic about Lopez, declaring her to be “without a doubt” one of his great loves. In September 2018, the former pair embraced each other warmly backstage at her Las Vegas residency, All I Have.
Cris Judd
On the set of her “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” music video, the Monster-in-Law actress met the dancer, and the two married in September 2001. By June 2002, the couple’s marriage was over, and their divorce was finalised in 2003.
In a September 2014 interview with Us Weekly, Judd admitted that their marriage “just didn’t work out.” “I’m sorry, but I don’t know why her relationships don’t work. I assume it is due to the fact that it is job. It’s a matter of whether or not you want to work on it. Everyone holds luggage and has issues. It’s a question of whether you want to deal with those issues,” he said at the time.
Ben Affleck
The Justice League star and Lopez, who is known in the press as “Bennifer,” met while filming Gigli and married in November 2002. The couple called off their wedding four days before it was scheduled to take place, and they eventually called it off in January 2004.
“My marriage [with Affleck] self-destructed in front of the whole world,” the “Not Your Mama” singer said of the news surrounding the critically panned Gigli and her divorce from the Oscar winner to Vanity Fair in December 2017.
The Gone Girl actor married Jennifer Garner in 2005, and they have two daughters, Violet and Seraphina, as well as a son, Samuel. The divorce between Affleck and Garner was finalised in 2018.
Marc Anthony
Lopez and Anthony married in June 2004, and in February 2008, they welcomed twins Max and Emme. They did, however, announce their separation in July 2011. In April 2016, the Enough star told W magazine that she “knew very quickly that [their marriage] wasn’t the right thing.”
” It wasn’t the dream I had imagined. Marc, on the other hand, is the father of my children, and that will never change. As a consequence, I’ll have to work hard to set things right. And that is by far the most challenging job I have.”
Beau ‘Casper’ Smart
In November 2011, just four months after separating from Anthony, the “Dinero” singer began dating the backup dancer. Lopez went on to recruit Smart as the artistic director of her Las Vegas residency, Everything I Have.
In 2014, the former flames hit a snag when gossip website The Dirty claimed to have proof that Smart was sharing pictures and messages with a transgender model. They broke up in June of that year, but managed to have an on-again, off-again relationship until 2016 when they finally split up for good.
Drake
Lopez and the “God’s Plan” rapper met backstage in December 2016 after attending her All I Have show. In January 2017, a source told Us Weekly that the two were dating and that they were “the real deal.” Drake allegedly went all out when they were dating, reportedly decking out an L.A. mansion. They were “crowned” king and queen at a makeshift winter Wonderland-themed prom at church.
Us announced their breakup in February of that year, with a source telling Us at the time that their brief relationship “died down a bit” after the “Nice for What” singer embarked on his European tour. “2017 I lost a J. Lo / A Rotterdam trip had me on front page, though,” Drake rapped in “Diplomatic Immunity,” ostensibly referring to the “Jenny From the Block” singer’s relationship with Alex Rodriguez.
Alex Rodriguez
Is the fourth time the charm? After more than two years of dating, Lopez and the former Yankee declared their engagement in March 2019. The couple, who first became connected in February 2017, frequently shared their love and admiration for one another.
On his birthday in July 2018, the former Fly Girl wrote a sweet message to her then-boyfriend, saying, “Baby, spending time with you over the past year and a half… getting to know the real you more and more… Every day, I am astounded by the kind, caring person you are to me and everyone else.”
A source told Us Weekly in October 2018 that the couple was considering moving in together, which made sense given that they had happily merged their families (Rodriguez shares Natasha and Ella with ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis). Rodriguez said Lopez made him “feel like a child again” in December 2018. “An engagement is certainly on the horizon,” a source told Us that month. Alex is smitten with Jen and spends as much time with her as possible.”
During the coronavirus outbreak, Lopez and Rodriguez had to postpone their wedding several times. After news that the couple had split and called off their two-year engagement, Us clarified in March 2021 that they were “working through some stuff.”
