At the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday evening, Taylor Swift made Grammy history by winning her third Album Of The Year for Folklore (March 14). Following her Fearless win in 2010 and 1989 win in 2015, Swift has now won three albums of the year awards. The pop star has now surpassed Adele and joined Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, and Paul Simon as the fourth and first female artist to win three album of the year awards.
Taylor Swift Became the First Woman to Bag ‘Album Of The Year’ Grammy Award Three Times!
Taylor Swift’s folklore won the Album of the Year award at the 2021 Grammy Awards on Sunday, March 14. Taylor had to defeat Jhené Aiko’s Chilombo, Black Pumas’ Black Pumas (Deluxe Edition), Coldplay’s Everyday Life, Jacob Collier’s DJesse Vol. 3, HAIM’s Women In Music Pt. III, Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia, and Post Malone’s Hollywood’s Bleeding to win this award.
The chart-topper thanked people by saying, “My God, I want to thank all of my collaborators who are on stage.” “I’d like to express my gratitude to Justin Vernon, and I hope to meet you someday. I’d like to express my gratitude to Joe, who is the first person I play every song I write, and I had a great time writing songs with you in quarantine.”
Taylor delighted fans with the publication of folklore in July 2020, as E! News readers are well aware. During the coronavirus pandemic, she shared, “The majority of the stuff I had planned for this summer didn’t work out, but there was one thing I hadn’t expected that did. Folklore, my eighth studio album, is that thing.”
And the “Cardigan” actress thanked several people in her acceptance speech, including friends Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, as well as their three daughters James, Inez, and Betty. However, before thanking the Reynolds sisters, the 31-year-old singer thanked her album partners, one of whom is boyfriend Joe Alwyn.
The pop star continued by saying “I composed and recorded this music myself, but I was able to collaborate with some of my musical heroes. One of the songs was written in honor of Ryan and Blake’s third child. Of course, we’re referring to Taylor Swift’s smash hit “betty.”
“We can’t express how thankful we are to have met you in this made-up universe, and we will be eternally grateful. Thank you very much Recording Academy. Thank you a lot”
Although Taylor Swift fans were overjoyed for her winning the ‘Album Of The Year’ Award, they were equally as disappointed.
In the category of Best Pop Solo Performance, the Grammys gave Taylor Swift the cold shoulder. Swift,31, was beaten for Best Pop Solo Performance by her “Watermelon Sugar” performing ex, Harry Styles, just moments after wowing the Grammys with a stellar performance of “Cardigan,” “August,” and “Willow.”
Despite the loss, Swift applauded Styles as he stepped onto the stage to receive his first Grammy Award. When her album “Folklore” won Album of the Year, the Recording Academy came to her rescue which made her the first female to win three Album Of The Year awards!
