Daft Punk is a French electronic duo or should I say ‘was.’ Formed in 1993, the duo got famous in the late 1990s. The Parisian duo was lead by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter. They played with their music by combining components of house music with funk, techno, disco, rock and synthpop. It was not just their music that attracted the audience and fans but also it was their public appearance.
Daft Punk wore ornate helmets and gloves to accept robot personas in most open appearances since 1999and once in a while allowed interviews or showed up on tv.
The Duo announced the news of their split on February 22, 2021. This heartbreaking yet shocking news came out by them in an 8-minute video titled “Epilogue,” excerpted from their 2006 film Electroma.
Look Back At ‘Daft Life’s’
First let’s talk about how they got the name. During their early careers, they got criticized negatively on their music. Dave Jennings called their work “Daft Punky Trash”. Instead of being demotivated, they made it their official name. Daft Punk official debut album came out in 1997, named ‘Homework’.
At the 2009 San Diego Comic-Con, it was declared that the team composed 24 tracks for the film Tron: Legacy. Daft Punk’s score was orchestrated and coordinated by Joseph Trapanese.The band collaborated with him for two years, a long time on the score.
Some of their major hits were: “One More Time” and “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger”from their album Discovery in 2001
Their 2013 single “Get Lucky”, featuring Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers was a major success all over the world.
King of Grammys
From their surprise appearance to performing alongside Kanye West at the 50th Grammy Awards on 10 February 2008. But it was the 2014 Grammys where Daft Punk truly took the highlight, winning album of the year for “Random Access Memories” and making history as the primary electronic act to win the most noteworthy honor at the Grammys. The twosome won four grants that night.
Till now they have won 13 Grammys and had been nominated for 43 in total.
Their publicist, Kathryn Frazier, affirmed the news to AFP by e-mail, without giving any reason for the part.
