Godzilla and King Kong are going all out against each other in the epic showdown of age-old rivalry in the upcoming monster film, Godzilla vs. Kong. When these two mythic adversaries will have a disastrous and epic battle against each other, only one can remain victor. But these combatants — similar to other versus films in pop-culture — could put aside their differences and team up to eliminate a common enemy.
But, who would be the villain that will force the arch-enemy to team up to save humanity? The monster verse has a fair list of villains to create havoc, even Godzilla itself is regarded as the antagonist. Fans are assuming that there is another evil force, which will serve as the villain in the upcoming film. The reports claim that the Mechagodzilla will be the primary antagonist of the upcoming instalment.
However, this is a fan theory since the filmmakers haven’t teased about the inclusion of Mechagodzilla. But, eagle-eyed fans were too quick to notice Mechagodzilla in few tantalizing moments from the official trailer. The inclusion of Mechagodzilla was spoiled after images of leaked Mechagodzilla action figure surfaced online. Mechagodzilla is the second important enemy of Godzilla after King Ghidorah.
Godzilla is not the villain in Godzilla vs. Kong
King Kong has always shown as the sympathetic hero among the Titans in the monster verse. While Godzilla is the one who instigates the massive brawls against other Titans or even humanity. Godzilla will have fair share of battle against Kong at times in the upcoming movie, but wouldn’t be a villain entirely. In the trailer, at around 1:42 mark, fans noticed a Godzilla-like mechanized monster, potentially the hyped Mechagodzilla.
The appearance of Mechagodzilla certainly makes sense in the upcoming film, as it was already hinted in 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Alan Jonah, the infamous eco-terrorist arrived before the corpse of King Ghidorah and purchased the severed head in Mexico in the post-credits of 2019’s Godzilla. Jonah, with his force, intends to study the body and even weaponized it.
There are also chances that Godzilla may be the imposter, as the disguised form of Mechagodzilla. This isn’t a new thing as it has already happened in the first movie, Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla, where it attacked its allies and went on a rampage. Godzilla vs. Kong will arrive on theatres on March 26, 2021 and also on HBO Max.
