When MCU was creating movies after movies and every movie they made was successful. Warner Brothers thought of starting at their DC cinematic universe. One of the first movies they made was Man Of Steel, directed by Zack Snyder which kick-started their Cinematic Universe. But it was not a profitable venture because Batman Vs Superman and Justice league performed very badly on the Box Office.
They needed a movie that needed to be successful. Then came Wonder Woman in 2016, directed by Patty Jenkins, which was a huge hit at the box-office despite mixed reviews by critics. And just one year Later Warner brothers gave another hit when they made Aquaman, directed by James Wan, which collected more than a billion dollars at the box-office again despite not great reviews by the critics.
THE CASE:
The cast of Aquaman was filled with great actors and actresses. Jason Momoa and Amber Heard were among them. They were again recast for the second installment of the movie. But after the conflict between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp, when Amber Heard cased a file against Johnny Depp, accusing him of assault. The case went on for a very long time and the result was Warner Brothers terminating their contract with Johnny Depp and recasting some other actor in the role of Gellert Grindelwald.
PETITION:
The fans around the world were not happy and a petition was released to fire Amber Heard and Re-cast someone else for the role of Mera. The petition was signed by 1.5 million people demanding this. But it looks like Warner Brothers are going ahead with Amber Heard as Mera and just ignoring their fans around the world. The rumor was that Emilia Clarke was going to replace her in Aquaman 2 but there is confirmation by the Studios or Emilia Clarke herself.
