Now that the new year is up and coming, and things are apparently getting better. But we know it’s still gonna take some time. And nothing is better to keep ourselves entertained for the time being than Netflix. 2020 saw a massive increase in viewership of Netflix and other streaming services. Whether you have been into it or just starting out, here are some of the best movies you should watch this month on Netflix.

The movie features Bruce Lee, a highly-skilled martial arts teacher helping British Intelligence to enter a fighting tournament and uncover the crimes of Han. While he agrees, he also finds his own vendetta. Watch for Jackie Chan’s cameo as Han’s Bodyguard while you watch this action-packed flick.

Watch Lionardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks in this crime drama biopic. The story is about Frank Abagnale, who turns a conman and committed million-dollar frauds before even turning 19. Like the original story, watch DiCaprio disguise himself as a pilot, a doctor, and a lawyer and evade the FBI.

Goodfellas (1990)

If you are into Scarface and The Godfather, this gangster drama is definitely for you. It stars Robert De Niro as Jimmy Conway, Ray Liotta as Henry Hill, and Joe Pesci as Tommy DeVito. They work for a local capo Paulie Cicero and as the story progresses, so does their relationship as they try to stay alive in the underworld.

The Departed (2006)

Superbad (2007)

This comedy movie featuring Jonah Hill and Michael Cera as Seth and Evan, two high school friends who get into really weird situations.  It is loosely based on high school experiences of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (writers of the film). Despite the movie released a decade back, it will surely make you crack up, cringe, or even cry of laughter.

Pieces of A Woman (2021)

This Netflix original just got released a few days ago. Starring Vanessa Kirby, Shia LaBeouf, and Molly Parker, the story is about a young couple who suffer a great tragedy during their home birth and are now trying to cope with it, while also entering a legal battle with the midwife who was watching the delivery.

Penguin Bloom (2021- coming January 27)

Based on the book by Cameron Bloom and Bradley Trevor Grieve, this movie stars Naomi Watts as Samantha Bloom, who is left paralyzed from the chest down after falling off a balcony. Trying to walk through her new reality, she befriends an injured magpie. The bond helps her to heal mentally and emotionally.

The Dig (2021 – coming January 29)

Another book adaptation, The Dig stars Carey Mulligan as a wealthy widow Edith Pretty, who asks an archaeologist Basil Brown (played by Ralph Fiennes) to uncover something in her property in Sutton Hoo. The book and the movie reimagine the actual events that took place in 1939.
