Yahoo Mobile is getting its first exclusive smartphone, the ZTE Blade A3Y. The device is priced at $49, and it comes with very basic specs and cameras.
Yahoo launched Yahoo mobile back in March. Back then, it seemed like a rebranded version of Visible.
The Yahoo phone
The Yahoo ZTE Blade A3Y comes with only 32GB of storage. And that is mostly used up by the pre-installed Yahoo apps. And also those who sign up for Yahoo Mobile and don’t have a compatible phone will get this mobile for free.
This phone can however also be used with other carriers or mobile services. You don’t necessarily need to use all Yahoo services only.
The specs are pretty basic with an 8MP rear camera. A 5MP front camera, 2GB of RAM, a 2600mAh battery, and Android 10.
2020 seems to be the year of affordable phones
2020 saw plenty of affordable phones being launched. There was the Pixel 4a, the Moto G Power, and the Moto G Fast. But all these mobiles are priced around $200-$400 price range. The $50 price tag of this Yahoo phone makes it basically a competitor less and this can help it to become a successful product. Many people would want a mobile, like this as their burner device. Or a device that they use just for browsing and media consumption.
