What is a Blue Moon?, How and where to watch Halloween Blue Moon

Skywatchers should take note on this Halloween blue moon will be visible across the globe around 31st October 2020. It is a truly special confluence of the spook that Halloween few more visible for almost all time zones on earth but this hasn’t happened since the year 1944. As stated by the farmer’s almanac it won’t happen again till the year 2039. 

But there is more 31st October a full moon will also be a visible and blue moon. It is a designation for the second full moon to occur in a single calendar month. Blue movies are quite rare to occur and they are seen an average of once every two and a half years. The last blue was seen in 2018 March.

What to Expect From 2020's Halloween Blue Moon

The next blue moon will be seen in August 2023 as predicted. Interested people can follow the live webcast of the blue moon on the virtual telescope website. And also on YouTube, it will be carried away live from the start of 1630 GMT. Gianluca Masi, an astrophysicist from Rome will follow the blue moon and telecast it live from Italy. 

The current definition of a blue moon is a misinterpretation of the original one. This town once referred to the two-third full moon in a single season. The Seasons which supported 4 full moons instead of the three which are seen usually. 

And in case people are wondering the color has nothing to do with the name blue moon. This is the effect of the scattering of light by dust and smoke particles in Earth’s atmosphere. This scattering results in the bluish color of the Moon. But such effects can never be associated with the phases of the moon.
