Witcher 2 isn’t cancelled: Renewal status and Updates

The Witcher became one of Netflix’s most popular shows when it aired. But a lack of news on season 2 has fans asking if The Witcher has been canceled.

With Game of Thrones coming to an end in 2019, TV fans were left without their gritty and gripping fantasy material.

However, it didn’t take long for Netflix to rise to the challenge with its series The Witcher.

The Henry Cavill-starring series was an instant hit when it released in December 2019. Upon its arrival, it became one of Netflix’s most-watched shows.

But it has now been over 10 months since season 1 of The Witcher arrived on Netflix. Plus, no trailers have been released for season 2. This has left some viewers asking if The Witcher season 2 has been canceled.

IS THE WITCHER SEASON 2 CANCELLED?

The hype around season 1 of the hit fantasy series meant that Netflix actually renewed The Witcher for season 2. Yes, before season 1 had even aired.

Season 1 ended with Geralt finally catching up with Ciri. After this, fans were excited to see the next stage of their adventure.

However, there may be a very good reason why Netflix hasn’t been teasing the release of season 2 just yet.

STATUS OF THE WITCHER SEASON 2

Season 2 of The Witcher is definitely coming and is on its way.

However, The Witcher is one of the numerous films and TV shows to have faced delays due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Filming on season 2 actually began in the spring of 2020. But it was then forced to halt production and delayed filming until August due to the outbreak.

The production on season 2 is currently ongoing. According to Forbes, it is expected to continue until early 2021.

As a result, the most likely release window for The Witcher season 2 is the second half of 2021. Though, we have to wait for the official statement from the makers.
