Thailand’s current Prime Minister announced on Wednesday that he might remove the emergency decree. This has continuously failed to stifle a growing protest movement. Which has been demanding his resignation. This comes with demands that also demand reforms to the current monarchy of Thailand.
Post a big day of anti-government and rival royalist protests. Which were spread all across the country of Thailand. Many thousands of angry pro-democracy activists marched on the Government House. They did so whilst defying an emergency decree. This emergency decree was imposed last week. The decree banned gatherings of any more than four people in one place. As the crowds constantly chanted for him to resign. The current Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O-Cha addressed the nation. He said he would make “the first move to de-escalate” the situation.
Democratic activists have amassed near Bangkok’s Victory Monument. This is while counter-rallies attracted thousands of royalists. These were especially popular in the southern province of Narathiwat. Along with many more in the capital. Journalists in and around Bangkok suggested some minor scuffles broke out between rival factions. This was before about 7,000 pro-democracy activists set off towards the seat of the executive.
