The boy, who taught at the school outside a suburb of Paris, confronted school children on the street and asked them to point out his victim, Prosecutor Jean-Francois Ricard, Saturday.
The 18-year-old attacker was shot dead at the school., about 600 meters(yards) away from the dead teacher. The attacker was born in Russia. He was shot dead minutes after the teacher was beheaded. The 47-year-old teacher was murdered broad daylight in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine on Friday.
A photograph of the teacher’s body, accompanied by a message claiming responsibility posted on Twitter, was discovered on the assailant’s phone, found near his body. Ricard said the Twitter account belonged to the attacker. Twitter did not take long to take down the image of the dead body. They have also suspended that account saying that it violated the companies policies.
“In the name of Allah the most gracious, the most merciful, … to (President Emmanuel) Macron, leader of the infidels, I have executed one of your hell-hounds who dared to belittle (Prophet) Mohammad.”- Ricard Quoted the image
However, earlier this month Paty (the teacher) had shown his pupils cartoons of Prophet Mohammed in class. The cartoons were on freedom of expression, which angered a number of Muslim parents. This was because Muslims believe that any depiction of the Prophet is blasphemous.
Attacker
The attacker was of Chechen origin. The attacker had been living in Evreux. Which lies in the northwest of Paris. He was not previously known to the intelligence services, Ricard told a news conference. The entire country of France was shocked by the shooting. The attack carried echos from an attack five years ago. The attack which happened five years ago happened on the offices of satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo. Prime Minister Jean Castex said it bore the hallmarks of Islamist terrorism.
“I want to share with you my total indignation. Secularism, the backbone of the French Republic, was targeted in this vile act,” Castex said.
However, unions, anti-racism groups and Charlie Hebdo are organising a gathering in central Paris on Sunday to commemorate the murdered teacher. A national tribute will be organised for Wednesday, said Macron’s office.
Who Are The Chechens?
Chechens are also known as Kristi’s. They are a part of a North-East Caucasian ethnic group. Also known as the Nakh peoples originating in the North Caucasus region primarily in Eastern Europe, located between the Black and Caspian Seas. They refer to themselves as Nokhchiy. Chechen and Ingush peoples are collectively known as the Vainakh (which means our people in Chechen) since the 1930s and were known as Nakhchi prior.[21] The majority of Chechens today live in the Chechen Republic, a subdivision of the Russian Federation. Chechens are predominantly Muslims.
The Russian word “Chechen” comes, according to traditional custom, from central Chechnya, which had many large cities and towns named after Chechen. These are Chechen, Nana-Checha and Yokkhechen (Greater Chechena) in the region of Nana-Checha (Mother Chechen). In Russian sources, the term “Chechen” is called “Chachana” at the end of the 16th century and is referred to as a property kept by Prince Shikh Murza in Chechnya. The etymology has its roots Nakh and originates from the word “Che”(inside) applied with the suffix” cha/chan. The towns and villages called Chechen have always been situated in the “Chechen Arena” in the Central Chechnya of nowadays.
