The fifth-seeded Miami Heat and the third-seeded Boston Celtics will begin their best-of-seven series of the Eastern Conference Finals tonight. This year will mark the third appearance in the conference finals out of the four previous seasons for the Celtics. Meanwhile, the Heats will make their first-ever appearance since 2014, where they lost to San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Championship. The Celtics, on the other hand, are aiming for first playoff berth since 2010, when they lost to the Lakers in NBA Finals.
Tio-off: 6.30 PM Eastern Time on Tuesday @ ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex
Miami Heat, led by Jimmy Butler, has been some sort of dominant while entering the Eastern Conference Finals. They first eliminated Indiana Pacers by sweeping 4-0 in the first round and then defeating the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks in five games in the conference semifinals. Celtics had an easy first round as they swept the Philadelphia 76ers 4-0, but hit the road bumps in Round 2. They had to play all seven games in the conference semifinals to defeat the defending champion, Toronto Raptors.
All the players look good from both the teams, expect Celtics starting forward Gordon Hayward. But, he may return to the court after seating out since the first game of the playoffs due to a right ankle sprain. Miami hasn’t played since September 8, so the chances are their momentum might get disturbed. Miami Heat’s Jimmy Butler, who plays his first conference finals, said that they will play at their maximum potential.
