TRUMP INSINUATING ILLEGAL ACTIVITY?
President Donald Trump suggested during a tour in battleground North Carolina that voters should vote two times. Once by mail and once in person, to test the protections intended to guard against double voting.
A newsperson asked Trump if he had trust in the vote-by-mail system. Trump already claims that the elections will be ubiquitous and strikingly fraud against him. To this question, Trump replied, “Let them send it in and let them go vote, and if their system’s as good as they say it is, then obviously they won’t be able to vote. If it isn’t tabulated, they’ll be able to vote.”
Not only is voting twice deliberately is illegal, but it is also a felony in many states including North Carolina.
Upon landing, the president greeted the people on the tarmac and made a similar statement, encouraging them to send in their ballot “and then go in and vote.”
“So send it in early and then go and vote,” Trump said. “You can’t let them take your vote away, these people are playing dirty politics. So if you have an absentee ballot . . . you send it in, but I’d check it, follow it and go vote.”
According to Trump, voting through mails will make it problematic to count the votes and create disorder and unfair results.
Attorney General William Barr was asked to voice his opinions about the statements made by Trump. He evaded the questions by replying that he was unaware of the voting legalities in every state. He added that the system of vote-by-mail “is very open to fraud and coercion, is reckless and dangerous, and people are playing with fire.”
ARE TRUMP AND BARR CORRECT?
The records in the states which have practiced the system before doest not correspond to what Trump and Barr said. An analysis run by Washington Post suggested that out of three states that practiced the system, only 372 fake votes were found. That makes is nearly 0.0025 percent of total votes.
Joe Biden was asked to comment on this issue. To this, he said that Trump is only trying to delegitimize the system. And that there is not a jot or a tittle as an evidence in support of his claim.
Furthermore, he added, “the way to overcome this is to vote. Vote vote vote. And there’s not a shred of evidence that mail in voting is fraudulent,” Biden said. “Not a shred.”
