What is Ram?

RAM or random access memory or computer memory is a component of your smartphones, pcs, laptops, and tablets that helps them work fast, jump from one task to another as quickly as possible. RAM helps to store information that is temporary and can be used imminently. It can be defined as the component that helps computers work fast and store information temporarily.

Now the first question arises if it’s not there what difference would it make, if RAM is absent, then it will slow down your device. All these actions that you do like internet browsing or just switching from one program to another will be very slow. This will hinder your work, causing unwanted stress.

What Does Ram Do?

It stores information temporarily, which means once you shut down your computer or any smart device, the information would be lost. This is the reason why hard drives and SSDs are required to hold information after the device is shut.

TYPES OF RAMS

  • DRAM is widely used as a computer’s main memory. Each of it memory cells is made up of a transistor and a capacitor within an integrated circuit, Since transistors always leak a small amount, the capacitors will slowly discharge, causing information stored in it to drain; hence, DRAM has to be refreshed every few milliseconds to retain data.
  • SRAM is made up of four to six transistors. It keeps data in the memory as long as power is supplied to the system, unlike DRAM, which has to be refreshed periodically.SRAM is faster but also more expensive, making DRAM the more prevalent memory in computer systems.

Ram Computer

RAM is one of the most important components of a computer. If it is less, then the device would work slowly. If you think installing a massive amount of RAM will make your experience on the computer fast, then you are wrong; it will only interfere with the overall work like lagging of the device. So one should just have enough to make your device work rightly.
