The officials in Robertson County have hinted a serious hazard
This day marks the possibility of serious trouble for the people of Robertson County. A cyclone is likely going to affect the county. Residents have been continuously asked to stay safe. The Robertson County Emergency management has given a set of guidelines to follow in order to stay as safe as possible.
The situation is compared to Hurricane IKE, hinting that this one is not to be played with. This one is called Hurricane Laura.
WHAT IS HURRICANE LAURA?
Laura is said to be an ‘unsurvivable’ hurricane that is moving towards the north of the United States. It was such a strong one that it had to be put in category 5, creating turmoil in the citizens who fear for their lives. Following are the views of the experts:
According to Dr William Schaffner, an infectious disease specialist, “We have this historical storm at a time when we’re in a public health emergency”; which, according to him could create “a hurricane of COVID-19”
According to John Renne, an expert in disaster planning from Florida Atlantic University, “The only way to get people out is to increase the timeline of the evacuation,”
ADVICE FROM THE OFFICIALS
This was the alert issued by the Robertson County Emergency Management:
“As we all know Hurricane Laura is likely not going to affect us here in Robertson County with storm damage, BUT we will most likely lose power due to Entergy being in the affected area. We spoke with our Entergy rep this morning. They believe that if we experience an outage that it should be short-lived due to their ability to reroute energy from other plants.
Who remembers Hurricane IKE?
This storm has the ability to put our lights out for several days or more. Please don’t gamble with this. What we need from you are 48 hours!
Go to the store and get enough bottled water to last for your family for 48 hours. Do Not Hoard! Seriously Don’t Hoard!! It’s Rude!
We need for you to reach out to any elderly or special needs family members affected and make arrangements to care for them. If you have a family who has power and you can go there then do so.
If you have a portable generator and you want to cool or light your home with it please use common sense.
Do not hook a portable generator to your breaker box or home electrical system because you can back feed the grid and injure or kill a lineman working on the system.”
POWER OUTAGE?
Through a Facebook post, the citizens were informed about a power outage. Entergy is confident that they can control the outage within 2 days but the Emergency Management predicts the number of 8-10 days.
CURRENT STATUS OF HURRICANE LAURA
Most recent news has relaxed the citizens a little bit as it is reported that the hurricane has now come down to category 2. It is still extremely harmful but not nearly as we predicted it would be.
