Will there be a Ted Lasso season 4?

Ted Lasso, the beloved Apple TV+ comedy series, has finally reached the end of its third season. Following the big finale to its spectacular set of episodes, fans are wondering about the future of the show. They are eager to know whether they will be able to see Ted, Rebecca Welton, and all their friends at AFC Richmond play in the streaming games for another season.

Ted Lasso had an incredible response in its three seasons, with the latest one showing Richmond struggling to get ahead in the Premier League. Meanwhile, Ted tries to keep their spirits high while dealing with Nate’s departure, his divorce, and chronic panic attacks. The fans assumed that the show could easily run another season. But, it looks like the audiences are watching Ted lead Richmond for the last time this season.

Will Ted Lasso have a fourth season?

Jason Sudeikis, the show’s lead actor, confirmed that season 3 would be the final season of Ted Lasso. According to him, this was planned for the show for a long time. In an interview, Sudeikis said, ”This is the end of this story that we wanted to tell, that we were hoping to tell, that we loved to tell.”

So, like the original Star Wars Trilogy, the great saga of Ted Lasso will end at its third installment, leaving some fans disappointed. Currently, Ted Lasso is one of the most popular and acclaimed comedy dramas of all time.

Well, it started as a somewhat ”silly” show about a football coach hired to lead a British soccer team. Very soon, the show became a captivating and motivating story about people overcoming the real issues of life like loneliness, mental illness, and trauma. When the world was suffering from the pandemic, this story gave many audiences hope, joy, and upliftment. Certainly, this show appealed to millions of people globally, and thus, the fans were not yet prepared for the show to come to an end.

Seemingly, it is the right call for the Apple TV+ to let the series finish. The writers will otherwise have to go beyond their original intentions as it was planned just for three seasons. Probably, the makers know that sometimes very lengthy shows lose their original magic if they are extended for more seasons just for the heck of it.

The writers don’t want to force themselves for more seasons as this could decline the quality of such a critically acclaimed show. So, it is fair to the people behind the show that they decide on their own terms when they want to end the show. This would not let the legacy of the show get declined.

Will there be any spinoffs of Ted Lasso?

Seasons 2 and 3 have depicted characters like Roy Kent, Keeley Jones, Coach Beard, Jamie Tartt, Trent Crimm, and Nate Shelley in their own nutshell. The show spent a lot of time on the titular coach, similarly, some episodes were focused on these characters’ storylines. Thus, the series has shown great potential for these supporting players to have successful solo adventures.

Possibility of Ted Lasso Spinoffs

When Sudeikis was asked about the possibility of spinoffs, he had plenty of ideas, including one for co-stars and pals Hannah Waddingham and Juno Temple as a ”crime-fighting duo”. ”I think that’s one of the nearest things about the show, at least for me,” he shared. ”To watch over and over these performances by these amazing actors, this great cast. I really enjoy watching every single of them and it’s so fun on the writing side just to pair up anybody.”

He added, ”Literally, take any two of them and kind of like mix them up, it’s fun to think about. So, I mean, I would love for the first show to have six different spin-offs.”

A hint of hope!

Ahead of the series finale, series star Phil Dunster linked the last days on the Ted Lasso set to the last days of school, leaving an open possibility of a return in the future. ”This isn’t necessarily the end. We don’t know, it felt like the end of school, where you’re like, I’m so grateful that we’ve all been a part of this thing. I’m also so excited for what happens next.”
