Google Pixel 7 and 7 pro out: check the whole review here

Both phones get some nice design changes, but the smaller one stands out. Holding the Google Pixel 7 or Pixel 7 Pro for the first time feels like you’ve done it before. Google’s hardware philosophy changed significantly with last year’s phones, down to the chipsets that powered them.

These devices are meant to continue that trend. But with another year of experience, it seems clear that the Made By Google team wants to convince even the most skeptical iPhone owners that the Pixel 7 is ready to be your next phone, and they might be right.

The outer finish and look of Google Pixel

The most noticeable change here is how the camera bar has changed. Google has replaced the long strip of glass with a metal panel with cutouts for the cameras. the phone has switched to matte aluminum in the Pixel 7. The Pixel 7 Pro doesn’t have this problem, mainly because Google kept the curved screen for another year. This time, it’s much more subtle.

this comes with the polished aluminum on the Pixel 7 Pro. It lets it bend directly into the frame instead of using a seam from metal to glass. It has a sleek design. Even though the screen is slightly smaller than last year’s model, the overall feel is much more high-end.

Even when holding both phones, the Pixel 7 Pro’s improvements aren’t as straightforward as those of the Pixel 7. The polished metal on the camera bar is a nice touch, but the matte aluminum looks much better.

Power and performance

Google Pixel 7

With the Pixel 7, Google didn’t try to change everything, but they didn’t have to. This year, the Pixel 7 easily lives up to its price tag thanks to better cameras, the next-generation Tensor 2 chipset, and Google’s software, which is full of great features.

Google Pixel 7 Pro

After some problems with the Pixel 6 Pro last year, Pixel 7 Pro improves on the Pixel experience by making it more stable and allowing all of its cameras to take 4K60fps videos and combine images. Even though it’s just an incremental update, the Pixel 7 Pro is still very appealing, thanks to its 30W fast charging and features like automatic Call screening and Pixel recorder.

The cameras of Google Pixel

Pixel 7

The Pixel 7 has better cameras than the last generation, but most of the improvements are in the software. This year, the front-facing camera has also been improved. It now has a larger sensor for better selfies at night.

Pixel 7 Pro

Super Res Zoom is better than ever, with up to 30x zoom on the Pixel 7 Pro. Like last year, both phones have a 2x optical zoom equivalent made possible by cropping the primary 50MP sensor.  Google also says that the Pro’s telephoto and ultra-wide lenses can take better photos both from a distance and up close with macro photography.
