US west coast Rapper Coolio, Gangsta Paradise dies at age 59

Rapper Coolio’s manager has verified that he passed away in Los Angeles. Moreover, it is at the age of 59. The musician’s full name was Artis Leon Ivey Jr. He died at a friend’s house, according to Jarez Posey, the artist’s longtime manager. 

Cause of Death

A news source contacted his management but did not respond when asked for comment. They did not establish the cause of death. The song Gangsta’s Paradise, for which Coolio won the Grammy for best solo rap performance in 1995. Also, it is his most well-known work. The smash hit copied Stevie Wonder’s 1976 song Pastime Paradise.

He received five additional Grammy nominations throughout his career, which began in the late 1980s. His career took off after Tommy Boy Records released his debut record. It Takes a Thief, in 1994. The album’s debut hit, Fantastic Voyage, peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100.

With its melancholy opening line, “As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death/I take a look at my life and realize there’s nothing left/’Cause I’ve been blastin’ and laughing, so long that even my mama thinks that my mind is gone, Gangsta’s Paradise would go on to.” Hence it became the No. 1 single a year later.

Statement by Coolio

The song reached a billion views on YouTube earlier this year. In a video commemorating the occasion, Coolio stated, “He wants to thank everyone for all the years of love. Being there for him.” The speaker said, “He hopes he helped you during both happy and difficult times.”

Pfeiffer was one of several who honored the rapper. The actress wrote on Instagram: “Heartbroken to hear of the great artist @coolio’s demise. A life prematurely ended. We recall him being gracious.” 

“Even 30 years later, listening to (Gangsta’s Paradise) still gives chills. Ice Cube, a rapper, tweeted: “This is awful news. The rise of this individual to the top of his field is something he has personally witnessed. Please be at peace.”

Coolio Biography

After being born in Monessen, Pennsylvania, a small town south of Pittsburgh, Coolio relocated to Compton, California. He attended a community college. Before committing himself fully to hip-hop, he held positions in airport security. Hence she was a volunteer firefighter.

He said in 1994 that his early work for firefighting teams in the San Jose region was a way to clean up. In addition to becoming a Grammy-winning singer, Coolio would later break into acting, appearing in scores of movies. 

In recent years, Coolio appeared on Big Brother’s reality series and created a food program. It gained popularity online. Also, to support his job as a chef, he planned to auction off the rights to his music, including Gangsta’s Paradise. Additionally, he published a cookbook and made appearances on celebrity culinary shows.
