Disturbing events led to scrapping of “Dallas Sting” movie

Kaitlyn Dever, who has been in movies like “Booksmart” and “Dopesick,” was also going to play the coach’s daughter. Kari Skogland, who worked on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, was supposed to direct the movie.

The movie’s main plot was the high school team’s “Rocky-like” march through the first-ever women’s soccer world championship tournament. At the time, there was no U.S. Women’s Soccer Team. A national search led to the Sting, a 19-and-under high school team, being chosen to represent the U.S. against professional teams from China, Australia, and Italy.

What about the accusations?

According to Deadline, one part of the story was that Kinder had to “get a note from a gynecologist saying that playing soccer would not hurt a woman’s reproductive organs.”

The investigation caused the producers to cancel the whole project, but it’s a shame that the story of the girls’ team won’t be told.
